A humorous meme with a powerful message… Once upon a time a younger version of myself worked 6 days a week in dentistry. I used to spend the 7th day of the week preparing for the next week and also reading and learning more about dentistry. It's fair to say I suffered from the total misconception that the input of time for the output of money was directly proportional.
This is a narrative that we have come to accept but in reality if you scratch the surface is totally untrue. The more I learned about money/investing the more I realised that there are a million ways it can work for us short term or long term to buy back our freedom. One just needs to get a great timeframe on when they wish to extract profits and also understand some basic principles. After that it's just applying them consistently and with good risk management.
We as dentists are SO unbelievably fortunate because we often have spare cash that when used wisely can work for us. I would never ever go back to working 6 days a week, it was true insanity and stifled my growth in so many other aspects of my life. I chased the satisfaction of FEELING like I was working hard rather than my own personal wellbeing. I also chased money and thought this was the only means to become wealthy.
PLEASE don't be like me. The information is out there. Theres a status quo in society that says that we must be grafting 24/7. Whilst I am a firm believer in hard work past a certain point it just becomes unhealthy and unwise – best epiphany I ever had was to realise it doesn't have to be that way.
The world is abundant, we’re all a team and the more information we can share with each other the more we can all benefit.
